About
House Bug Guide exists for one moment: you’ve just found a bug in your kitchen, closet, or bathroom, and you want to know what it is and what to do about it — without wading through a forum thread or a pest control company’s sales page to get there.
The site is written and edited by Chriss R., and published by NET STUDIO LLC.
What we cover
We focus on the household bugs people actually run into: carpet beetles, pantry moths, clothes moths, silverfish, gnats, flour weevils, and their look-alikes. Each guide follows the same shape — identify it, understand why it’s there, and a step-by-step way to get rid of it — and each identification page links to a removal guide, not the other way around.
What we don’t cover
We answer “does this insect bite?”, because that’s a question about mouthparts and diet with a documented answer, and for most household bugs the answer is no. We don’t answer “what is this rash and what should I put on it.” That’s a medical question, and no amount of careful phrasing makes a website the right place for it. Same for pesticide regulation, which varies by state and changes without notice. If you’re dealing with a skin reaction, a suspected allergy, or a large-scale infestation, see a doctor or a licensed pest control company. Who writes this site sets out exactly where that line sits and why, and our Terms of Use has the formal version.
How we write a guide
Every identification and removal guide is drafted from established entomological facts — size, coloring, life cycle, habitat — and checked in a second pass before it’s published, specifically for accuracy, invented statistics, and anything that reads like a professional certification we don’t hold. Guides get corrected when that check finds a problem, and they’re not marked as “expert-reviewed” unless an actual entomologist has looked at them, which none have yet.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links, and we plan to run display ads. Neither one changes what we recommend. We don’t name a specific product in a comparison until we’ve actually used it — see how we test — and a company can’t pay for a better placement or a positive mention.
